Learning to fish from a kayak can some times be challenging but, can also be very rewarding in the end. If you are new to an area or new to kayak fishing and want to fine-tune your game quickly I would recommend going with a guide for the first trip. It's different from other fishing because there is not a lot of space on a kayak. So don't overload your yak with things that you will never use and if you do, being organized is the key to success! I usually bring a paddle, PFD, whistle, rod/reels, just enough tackle for what I'm fishing for, fish grips/ landing net, measuring device, anchor, water/snack and my phone for pictures/ in case of emergency... That may sound like a lot but, if its stowed away properly its no problem at all! The first thing I look at before planning a trip is the tides and weather/WIND! There are many different bad situations you can put yourself in by not checking both the tides and wind before you launch... Safety first and fun second ; ) Once you have all that down you are ready to catch the fish of a lifetime! Nothing funner than taking a kayak sleigh ride from a nice fish. Also please be respectful of your fellow anglers on the water! If you see someone fishing, go around them and try not to disturb the area they are trying to fish. There are plenty of fish in the sea :) Until next time Be Safe, Have Fun, and Enjoy Florida's Beautiful waters!
